City-Wide Taxi was founded in 1977 by a group of shareholders who were all local Oshawa residents. Since that time we have grown, some shareholders have changed but we are still a locally owned company. The drivers at Oshawa’s City-Wide Taxi were unionized in the late 1980s first with the Ontario Taxi Union which was eventually taken over by the United Steelworkers Union, and from the Steelworkers Union, we went to the Canadian Auto Workers and assigned to Local 222. Currently, we are proudly associated with Unifor Local 222.
